About

I believe in the power of creativity and sustainability education for shaping a better future, especially through the medium of food and food-growing.

I hold an Adjunct Assistant Professorship in the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Calgary and am a Postdoctoral Researcher at Lund University's Centre for Sustainability Studies. I received my PhD in Environment & Sustainability from Keele University in 2019, and have a background in sustainability, environmental studies, and visual arts.

If you have any questions about my work or would like to collaborate, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

What I do

I research how to make food systems more sustainable, how to improve sustainability education, and how to make research more accessible and useful. I make sure I am addressing issues and using methods that can have real-life implications. I try to make the results of my research accessible to as many people as possible. My current project is about utopian food enterprises and my doctoral research focused on how to better manage student-led food gardens in universities. I co-chair the Food Studies Interdisciplinary Research Group at the University of Calgary.

I teach about sustainability, food systems, education for sustainability, social research methods, and theories of change. I take a participatory approach to teaching which means I use creative, activating methods to promote learning.

I draw and paint, and sometimes turn these works into books. I also channel my creativity into science communication.
