Exciting news! The IPBES Transformative Change Assessment – Chapter 3 is now live, and I’m proud to share that I am a contributing author!

This chapter, “How does transformative change happen?”, explores the deep, systemic shifts needed to address the root causes of biodiversity loss and create pathways towards just, sustainable futures. It examines the structural barriers to change, key determinants of transformation, and actionable levers for driving real-world impact.

An incredible team of global scholars and practitioners have pulled together insights with the aim to support policymakers, communities, and movements committed to transformative change.

🔍 Topics covered include:

- Structural drivers and root causes of biodiversity loss

- Leverage points and enabling conditions for change

- The roles of governance, values, and power in transformation

The “Weaving Approaches” figure (below) from the report illustrates how diverse knowledge systems, pathways, and sectors can be weaved together to enable transformative change. No single approach will get us there—we need plural, interconnected strategies rooted in justice and care.
